I Found My Next Competition
Good evening Titans,
First and foremost, I’d like to apologize to everyone that reads this blog and follows our YouTube channel. I’ve fallen behind on both due to other responsibilities and it’s been challenging to get back into my normal battle rhythm. I’ll do my best to get back on track in the weeks to come. On a more positive note however I have found the next completion that I plan to compete in. It will be the Strongest in Arkansas next month on July 13th. It will be in Little Rock Arkansas at the Arkansas State Fair
The Events
Log Clean and Press for Reps
Athletes will have one minute to clean the log and press away for as many reps as possible. For me personally, this will be my most difficult event because my log severely lags behind my barbell press. I’ve been devoting a lot of my training time to improving this event, however, so hopefully all that hard work will pay off.
Tire Flip, 80 Feet for Time
This one is pretty self explanatory. The competitor will have 60 seconds to cover 80 feet with the tire. Weights for the tire haven’t been announced so hopefully the one I have at Atlas will be heavy enough for me to get some good training in.
Yoke Carry, 80 Feet for Time
This one I should be pretty well versed in since it was also in the last competition I did. Athletes will have 1 minute to carry the yoke for 80 feet. Almost twice the distance of my last yoke walk and the weight is a little heavier but still very doable.
Sandbag Load for Reps
During this event the athletes will have 60 seconds to load a sandbag over a yoke as many times as they can. Unlike with the stone over bar at the Swamp Monster Shootout, there will not be anyone to roll the stone back to you in between reps. Instead, the athletes will have to move to the other side of the yoke to load the sandbag back to the other side. I’m going to have to do some experimentation to figure out what the best way to move side to side is.
Car Deadlift for Reps
This one I’m determined to do well in. Last time I had one of these in a competition was almost a year ago and I did not do very well. Each athlete will have 60 seconds to complete as many reps as possible. This one will be interesting to train for since I don’t have a car deadlift apparatus. I may just have to do a video on how to train for this event.
This competition I’ll be competing as an open middle weight. I’m really looking forward to it because I managed to talk my buddy Bill (who you may remember from North Carolina’s Strongest Man) into signing up. Should be a fun competition.
