On April 23rd, the Atlas Strength Shop will be hosting its first ever Louisiana’s Strongest show! The sport of strongman is growing in the state of Louisiana, and we want all of you to be a part of it. We want to give strongman athletes an opportunity to come out to Baton Rouge and compete against each other. There aren’t many strongman competitions to be had in the state, so this gives athletes in Louisiana and the nearby states a chance to compete.
Strongman has become a passion for a lot of us at the Atlas Strength Shop, and we want to do our best to help promote the growth of the sport in Louisiana. There are some very strong men and women in Louisiana, and we want to give them all a chance to showcase their abilities. It’s a great opportunity to push boundaries and exceed limitations. It’s also a chance to build friendships. Competitions of strength have been around for as long as humans have been around. With competition comes comradery. People from all walks of life and from different parts of the country come together to face off in fierce competition. During the competition, athletes will push each other. They’ll encourage and cheer each other on. Even when two athletes are neck and neck to take home the gold, you’ll find them coaching each other up. The beautiful thing about strongman culture is how much competitors want to see their adversaries succeed. There is a level of respect and appreciation for each other, because we all know what it takes to prepare for these events. Training for these competitions can be a grueling and painful task. With that knowledge in mind, it’s easy to understand why competitors want to see each other do well. Competition is always fierce, but the display of sportsmanship is something to be revered.
Our goal with this competition is to give as many athletes in the nearby area the opportunity to be a part of that experience. Having the chance to experience something like a strongman show can be kind of life changing, and I can certainly say that for myself. Between my football days and when I started competing in strongman, I didn’t really have much to be enthusiastic about. I was working out and getting stronger, but it felt more like work and just something I had to do. I wasn’t training towards anything, and a lot of my interests were largely unhealthy. Since finding strongman, I have a purpose for my training. I am more motivated than ever to learn about the science of strength sports and have an understanding of the process necessary to be competitive. I love competing in the shows, and I love being around the positive people this sport attracts. I want to help spread the word and give people the same chance I did to be a part of this wonderful strongman community.
Don’t worry, though. This isn’t just about warm and fuzzy feelings. We also want to bring out the monsters. We want to see you big boys and girls come out and show us what you can do. We want to see those hungry savages out there ready to rip and tear their way through the competition and get after it. This competition is about proving who’s the strongest and most durable. This competition is about earning the right to the title of Louisiana’s Strongest.
